The Parks and Recreation in-town basketball program is designed to provide a positive environment for youngsters to learn and play basketball with and against their classmates. Due to state and local health restrictions, the rec basketball program will be structured differently this year.
We will be offering weekly practices/scrimmages for boys and girls in Grades 3-8, all at Center School. Center School is located at 11 Ash St. There will not be any formal games. At this time we are not planning to offer clinics for Grades K-2.
In order to satisfy health requirements and due to restrictions on gym availability, teams will be limited to nine players, and there will be a maximum of six teams in each grade/division. Once we reach the maximum number of players, additional registrants will be placed on a wait list in case anyone drops out. This program is limited to Hopkinton residents only. Please be aware that adjustments to the program may need to be made based on any changes in state and local health guidelines.
Registration closes November 9
At each session, two teams will share the court. Each team will use half the gym for skills training during the first 30 minutes. For the remaining 30 minutes, the two teams then will scrimmage following the modified playing rules issued by the state. EVERY CHILD (AND COACH) MUST WEAR A FACE COVERING DURING THE ENTIRE SESSION. Basketballs will be provided and cleaned between clinics. Players must bring their own water bottle with their name on it. Participants will be required to use hand sanitizer when entering the gym and after each water break.
ONLY PLAYERS, COACHES AND SUPERVISORS ARE ALLOWED IN THE GYM. No parents, siblings, etc. You will drop off and pick up your child outside the gym.
Schedule information for each age group is below. Note that all schedules are subject to change based on a few factors, primarily the number of players and coaches who sign up. Weekday practices could start as early as 4:30pm. You will be notified of the 60 minute time slot for your practice in late November. Practices will begin the week after Thanksgiving and end in early February. This is an eight-week program, and practices that are canceled due to weather, health precautions or other reasons will not be made up. We cannot take special requests for placements. Pinnies are not required this year. Each participant will receive a Rec Basketball t-shirt.
Parent and high school volunteers serve as coaches for the teams and clinics. If you are interested in volunteering, submit your contact information when you register your child and we will get in touch with you. Volunteers are essential to the success of this program, so please consider volunteering your time.
A health questionnaire will be required before every practice. Detailed instructions on collection of the health data and drop-off and pickup procedures will be sent prior to the first practice.

HEALTH FORM
Before every practice — even if your child is not attending — you must fill out a short form declaring that your child is not exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 and has not had any recent close contacts with a COVID-positive individual. This form must be filled out prior to EVERY practice, within 12 hours of the start of the practice. If your child is not attending a practice for another reason, you will indicate that on the form. The form is very short — it will take less than 1 minute to complete. This form is required before every practice. Any child whose form has not been submitted will not be allowed to join the practice.
We are working with the Hopkinton Basketball Association to collect the health data. The link below will take you to their website and specifically the Rec clinic schedule which includes links to health forms. You must use the link specific to your child's grade/clinic. If you have another child in the program please use the form for their grade/clinic.

If your child is exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 or has had a close contact, email forms@hopkintonbasketball.org as soon as possible so we can determine the appropriate course of action.
