2024 Boston Marathon Information

For new site
Hopkinton has been the start of the Boston Marathon since 1924, when the starting point of the race was moved from Ashland. This year marks the 100th time that the Boston Marathon will begin in Hopkinton.

Every year our town looks forward to welcoming thousands of runners and spectators as they take part in this historic race. This year the festive celebration will include music, activities, crafts, and food & other vendors on the Town Common over the weekend. The weekend events will be geared towards celebrating our community and its history in the world's oldest annual marathon.

Celebrate at the Start Line!
Hopkinton Parks and Rec is busy organizing Marathon weekend festivities and fun for all on the Town Common!

Food vendors and other merchants will be there all weekend. Stop by Saturday or Sunday starting at 11:00am to see what we have to offer while you check out the HCA Winged Foot Exhibit! Twenty-six custom-designed winged feet celebrating the 100th Boston Marathon start from Hopkinton will be on display on the Town Common starting April 1st.

On Saturday April 13th, join us from 11:00am-3:00pm for food, crafts & games! There will be face painters and henna tattoo artists along with the opportunity to make a poster to cheer on Marathon runners or friendship bracelets to wear or share. Then spend time with family and friends playing corn hole and ladder ball or try your hand at giant Jenga. You can also learn about the history of the Boston Marathon through a selection of children's books in a cozy corner of the common.
