10:00 AM - 2:00 PM    Babysitting Class with Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED - Babysitting Class with Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED - April
The American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training with Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED course prepares youth ages 11–16 with the knowledge and skills needed to safely and confidently care for children and infants. This course incorporates the latest science and teaches participants how to recognize and respond to a variety of first aid emergencies including burns, cuts, scrapes, sudden illnesses, head, neck, and back injuries, as well as heat and cold emergencies. Participants will also learn how to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies involving pediatric victims (infants and children up to 12 years of age). Through hands-on activities, videos, and group discussions, students will build practical babysitting skills such as feeding, diapering, picking up and holding children, supervising play safely, and responding to emergencies. The course also helps participants develop leadership skills, learn how to start and manage a babysitting business, keep themselves and others safe, and guide children’s behavior in a positive way. Because CPR skills are part of this training and can be physically demanding, participants should ideally weigh at least 85–90 pounds to successfully complete the CPR portion of the course. Students who successfully complete the course will receive a 10-year American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training certificate and a Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED certificate valid for two years. Please bring a lunch as well as a light, snack. All items should be peanut free. Class ends promptly at the designated time. Please arrive promptly to retrieve your student from the classroom. This program was developed by Holly Burns and Cate Barry for their Girl Scout Silver Award. The idea for this class was motivated by the girls desire to increase responsiveness to medical emergencies. The girls would like to thank the KeepSmilin4Abbie Foundation and trainer Michelle Levenson for providing assistance and support towards the success of this program.

4:30 PM - 6:00 PM    Hands on Science Lab - Spring - Hands on Science Club
In this interactive class, students discover fundamental science concepts through hands-on building and experimentation. Each week, participants design and test simple projects—such as paper airplanes, rubber band instruments, and mini catapults—while exploring ideas like motion, force, sound, and design. Activities are presented as fun, engaging challenges that spark curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving. Through guided experiments and group discussion, students make predictions, observe results, and refine their designs. This supportive, exploration-based environment helps young scientists build confidence while developing a deeper understanding of how science works in the real world.

6:00 PM - 8:15 PM    First Aid and CPR/AED for Teens and Adults - ASHI First Aid and CPR/AED
The American Safety and Health Institute course offers critical training for anyone who might find themselves in an emergency situation with children and ensures they are equipped with the skills needed to respond effectively and confidently. It's an excellent resource for creating a safer environment for children both at home and in public spaces! The course will focus on: CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation): Teaching participants how to perform CPR on both adults and children, ensuring they can respond effectively in cardiac emergencies. AED (Automated External Defibrillator): Training on how to use an AED, an essential tool that can help restart a heart during a sudden cardiac arrest. First Aid: Covering a broad range of first aid skills for medical and injury emergencies, such as cuts, burns, and other injuries commonly experienced by children. Allergies and Epipens: Teaching how to recognize the signs of severe allergic reactions (anaphylaxis) and how to administer an epinephrine injection using an epipen to save lives. Asthma: Providing guidance on recognizing asthma attacks and how to assist a child or adult during an asthma emergency. Upon successful completion, participants will receive 2 year certification from American Safety and Health Institute in Pediatric First Aid and in Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED.
