Rec
The Parks and Recreation in-town basketball program is designed to provide a positive environment for youngsters to learn and play basketball with and against their classmates. We offer two programs: clinics for Grades K-2 and leagues for Grades 3-8.

Parent and high school volunteers serve as coaches for the teams and clinics. If you are interested in volunteering, please submit your contact information when you register your child and we will get in touch with you.

Schedule information for clinics and leagues is below. Note that all schedules are subject to change based on gym availability, the number of players and coaches that sign up, and other factors. For the grades 3-8 leagues, the dates/times listed on the registration form reflect games only. You will be notified of the practice schedule by your coach after the coaches meeting in November. Weekly practices for the grades 3-8 leagues will begin the week of November 28th.

We cannot take special requests for team placements, practice times or clinic times. Our goal is to provide balanced teams throughout each league.

Players in Grades 3-8 are required to have a reversible green and white mesh tank to wear at all games. 
If you are new to the program or have a returning player who has outgrown their current mesh tank, ordering information can be found below. Mesh tanks are not required for practices. 

Players in Grades 4-8 interested in playing on one of the town's travel basketball teams can find information about that program at hopkintonbasketball.org. Parks and Recreation and the HBA attempt to minimize conflicts between the two leagues so that players can participate in both.

GRADE K-2 CLINICS   REGISTRATION DEADLINE NOVEMBER 12th

Kindergarten one hour, co-ed clinics will be held at a TBD HPS gym on Sundays between 8:00am-4:00pm, December 4 through February 12. After registration closes, players will be assigned to an hour-long slot. Parents will be notified in mid-November the time of their child's clinic. We cannot take special requests for time slots.
No clinics will be held over winter break, December 25 and January 1.
Price $70.

Grade 1 boys and girls one hour clinics will be held at a TBD HPS gym on Sundays, between 8:00am-4:00pm, December 4 through February 12. After registration closes, players will be assigned to an hour-long slot. Parents will be notified in mid-November the time of their child's clinic. We cannot take special requests for time slots.
No clinics will be held over winter break, December 25 and January 1.
Price $70.

Grade 2 boys and girls will have one hour instruction and scrimmages at a TBD HPS gym on Sundays between 8:00am-4:00pm, December 4 through February 12. After registration closes, players will be assigned to an hour-long slot. Parents will be notified in mid-November the time of their child's clinic. We cannot take special requests for time slots. For the final two weeks of the season, players will be assigned to teams and play games.
No clinics over winter break, December 25 and January 1.
Price $70.

All clinic participants will receive a free t-shirt! A pinnie is not needed for the clinics.

GRADE 3-8 LEAGUES  REGISTRATION DEADLINE OCTOBER 21st
Players will be divided into teams at a preseason coaches meeting in late October. You will be notified about team placement in November. Weekly practices will start the week of November 28th. Games start the first weekend in December and end with playoffs the week leading into February vacation. Each team will have a minimum of eight games scheduled, although if games are canceled due to weather or other factors beyond our control we might not be able to make up all of them. Practice days:
Wednesday evening: All girls teams
Thursday evening: Boys, grades 5-8
Friday evening: Boys, grades 3-4

All games will be played on Saturday afternoons.

Practice and game schedules are subject to change based on gym availability, the number of players and coaches that sign up, and other factors.

Uniform Ordering
Please purchase a pinnie via the activity link below if you missed the deadline. The pinnies are available for pickup at our office at 6 Walcott Street. A variety of sizes will be available.

Important Registration Information
  • We cannot take special requests for team placements, practice times or clinic times. Our goal is to provide balanced teams throughout each league.
  • We cannot guarantee clinic/team placement if you register after the deadline.
  • There is a nonrefundable late fee of $15 if you register after the deadline.
