The Pediatric First Aid & CPR course incorporates the latest science and teaches students to recognize and care for a variety of first aid emergencies such as burns, cuts, scrapes, sudden illnesses, head, neck, back injuries, heat and cold emergencies and how to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies to help pediatric victims (infants and children up to 12 years of age). Students who successfully complete this course will receive a certificate for Pediatric First Aid/CPR valid for two years.
This class provides youth who are planning to baby sit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants. This training will help participants to develop leadership skills; learn how to develop a babysitting business, keep themselves and others safe and help children behave; and learn about basic child care and basic first aid. The recommended age for this course is 11-15 years old or anyone who works with children on a daily basis.
You are welcome to bring a light, peanut free snack. For the Sunday classes, please also bring a lunch. Class ends promptly at the designated time. Please arrive promptly to retrieve your student from the classroom.
This program was developed by Holly Burns and Cate Barry for their Girl Scout Silver Award. The idea for this class was motivated by the girls desire to increase responsiveness to medical emergencies. The girls would like to thank the KeepSmilin4Abbie Foundation and trainer Michelle Levenson for providing assistance and support towards the success of this program.
