The Parks and Recreation in-town basketball program is designed to provide a positive environment for youngsters to learn and play basketball with and against their classmates. 

Parent and high school volunteers serve as coaches for the teams and clinics. If you are interested in volunteering, please submit your contact information when you register your child and we will get in touch with you.To register to coach please scroll down to the bottom of this page.

Schedule information for the leagues is below. Note that all schedules are subject to change based on gym availability, the number of players and coaches that sign up, and other factors. You will be notified of the practice schedule by your coach after the coaches meeting in November. Weekly practices for the grades 3-8 leagues will begin the week of December 4th.

GRADE 3-8 LEAGUES  REGISTRATION DEADLINE OCTOBER 20th.
Players will be divided into teams at a preseason coaches meeting in late October. You will be notified about team placement in approximately 2 weeks prior to the first practice. This is contingent on parents registering by the deadline of  October 20th. Weekly practices will start the week of December 4th. Games start on Saturday, December 7th and end with playoffs the week leading into February vacation. Each team will have a minimum of eight games scheduled, although if games are canceled due to weather or other factors beyond our control we might not be able to make up all of them.

Practice days:
Wednesday evening: All girls teams
Thursday evening: Boys, grades 5-8
Friday evening: Boys, grades 3-4

All games will be played on Saturdays.

We cannot take special requests for team placements or practice times. Our goal is to provide balanced teams throughout each league. There is a nonrefundable late fee of $15 if you register after the October 20th deadline.

Players in grades 3-8 are required to have a reversible mesh tank to wear at all games. If you are new to the program or have a returning player who has outgrown their current reversible mesh tank, you will need to order one from Brine Sports. Reversible mesh tanks are mandatory for games. If your tank still fits or you are using a siblings from a previous year, you do not need to order a new one.

Orders need to placed by October 27th to ensure delivery for the first game of the season. All items will be shipped directly to the shipping address you provide at check-out. T-shirts, shorts, sweatshirts and socks will also be available but these are an optional purchase. Sizes are unisex.

3rd Grade Boys Player Evaluation Night information
  • Date: Wednesday, November 6th
  • Time: 5:30-8:00pm
  • Location: Doyle Gym, Hopkinton Middle School
  • This is highly recommended in an effort to form balanced teams.

Hopkinton Basketball Association
Players in Grades 4-8 interested in playing on one of the town's travel basketball teams can find information about that program at hopkintonbasketball.org Parks and Recreation and the HBA attempt to minimize conflicts between the two leagues so that players can participate in both.
