Early release programs encourage creative expression. Our goals are to encourage life-long learning, develop and promote self-expression, and challenge students to develop their own ideas and ultimately communicate them through the arts.
April Vacation Workshops
Clay Creations
Join this two-day April vacation workshop where you will use your imagination and get your hands dirty with clay! We'll make and decorate items that we might find in an enchanted forest, from pinchpot mushrooms to gnomes and fairies as we learn hand-building techniques, including slab, coil, and pinching. Finished works will be ready for pick up 4-6 weeks after the workshop.
Grade: 2-5
Dates: Tuesday, 4/22 & Wednesday, 4/23

Film Making Fun
In this two-day workshop, students will bring creativity to life in a fun, collaborative and exciting environment. They will learn skills in scriptwriting, storyboard sketching, improvisation and camera skills. Together they will write, shoot and edit a film in a genre of their choosing and edit their project together using the professional editing software Adobe Premiere.
Grade: 4th-8th
Dates: Tuesday, 4/22 & Wednesday, 4/23
Time: 9am-3pm

Creative Crew: Celebrate Spring (K-3)
Join this week of color and fun as we explore spring themed art projects! We'll focus on fine motor skills as we create eye-catching works of art using a variety of styles and materials. Explore the beauty of flowers, texture of drawing animal fur, the designs in butterfly wings, and more.
Grade: K-3rd
Dates: Tuesday, 4/22 - Friday, 4/25
Time: 9am-11:45am

Creative Crew: Celebrate Spring (4th-6th)
Join this spring themed program that will cover a little bit of everything relating to art making. We'll focus on all things spring and create and enjoy mixed media art projects while learning drawing, watercolors, acrylic, pastels etc. Come explore the beauty of flowers, the brilliance of oil pastels in replicating the sun's rays, the intricate designs in butterfly wings, and more.

Show in a Week: Disney Songs & Scenes
Explore theater and music through games, physical movement, storytelling, and finding your voice as we work on performing scenes from the much-loved canon of Disney movies and musicals. We'll work on our acting, singing, and dancing skills to help build and devise a final show. At the end of the week, actors will take to the stage and perform what they've explored over the week for family and friends.
Grade:1st-3rd

Teen Ceramics: Wheel throwing
Get your hands dirty in this hands-on week of pottery! Beginners will explore various wheel-throwing skills such as wedging clay, centering, forming vessels, and glazing, and more experienced potters will focus on making complex forms. The last day of class students will finish their projects by painting underglazes. Finished pieces will be ready for pick up 4-6 weeks after the class completion.

Art with the Hopkinton Center for the Arts
We’re partnering with the HCA to bring a few select arts programs directly to our website. This collaboration ensures that you stay updated on some of the best cultural events and workshops happening in our town. Find curated art opportunities that you won’t want to miss and stay connected with the vibrant creative community right here in Hopkinton! All classes take place at Hopkinton Center for the Arts, 98 Hayden Rowe.
Walk from school to the HCA!
A free walk-up service to 98 Hayden Rowe will be provided for children attending Hopkins Elementary. Parents pick-up their child at the location of the program you register for. Please make sure you have completed the school dismissal change form at Hopkins Elementary ASAP so that your child can be walked to the HCA. Use "HCA- Hopkinton Center for the Arts" as the person authorized to pick up your child.
Middle School students are welcome to come to the HCA at 98 Hayden Rowe after dismissal to work on homework or free draw until the start of their program.
