eScout Academy is at the forefront of extracurricular STEM education, dedicated to sparking curiosity and innovation in young minds. Our mission is to make learning both fun and impactful through activity-based classes that resonate with students.
We offer a diverse range of after-school courses designed for elementary to high school students.
Course Offerings:
Animation and Develop Games - Level 1 & 2, Grades 2-4
Dive into the world of digital creativity with our Animation and Game Development course, designed specifically for young learners in grades 2 and 3. In this interactive course, students are introduced to code puzzles, express and apply computing steps, build and play with code blocks (Animation, music/sound blocks). They will build fun games and animations using Events, Conditional and Repetition concepts. As students progress, they will delve into more advanced game design. Followed by unplugged activities.
Animation and Develop Games - Level 3, Grade 4-5
Equips students with foundational coding skills and computational thinking through interactive game design.
Lesson Breakdown:
Introduction to Block-Based Coding: Students learn the basics of programming and develop critical thinking skills.
Maze Game Creation: Step-by-step instruction on building, testing, and debugging a maze game to understand core programming concepts.
Arcade and Sports Games Development: Students advance to creating single and multiplayer games, applying loops, conditionals, and mathematical operations.
Followed by unplugged activities
Arduino Adventures: Building with Electronics and Code Grade 4-8 NEW!
Arduino Alvik introduces elementary and middle school students to the exciting world of electronics and coding through hands-on, interactive learning. With block-based coding for younger students and MicroPython for older ones, Alvik fosters curiosity, creativity, and problem-solving skills.
Students will engage in real-time projects like precision robot races, geometric navigation, and pathfinding adventures, bringing their creations to life. Along the way, they’ll build confidence, explore STEM concepts, and discover the power of technology to transform ideas into reality. Complemented by a lot of unplugged activities each week.
Develop Games using Code Blocks and Python Level 1, Grade 5-8
This course introduces foundational computing skills, express and apply computing steps, Build and play with code blocks. As well as providing a smooth transition from block coding to text-based programming. Participants will learn Python basics, including variables, loops, and conditionals. Using these skills, they will create visuals, artwork, simulations, and interactive games like Bounce!, Race, and more, using loops, conditionals. This comprehensive introduction sets the stage for more complex programming tasks and project-based learning, complemented by a lot of unplugged activities each week.
Hands on Science with Micro:bit - Python Level 2 Grade 6-10
Introduce students to programming and electronics through practical science experiments using Micro:bit's sensors. Participants need coding experience or should have completed eScout Python Level 1.
Lesson Breakdown:
Introduction to Micro:bit and Programming Basics: Understand the functionalities of Micro:bit and basics of block coding / Micro-Python.
Exploring Sensors: Learn to use Micro:bit's built-in sensors like accelerometer and light sensor. Create a step counter and a dice roller for board games
Advanced Sensor Projects and Data Handling: Implement more complex projects utilizing gestures and motion detection sensors. Create project like animal tracker, a water bottle alert, a plant watering system, and many more exciting science experiments.
