Don’t miss out on this chance to explore your artistic side and create something amazing!
Join local Hopkinton resident and art enthusiast, Stacie Kirkwood, as we dive into a series of hands-on projects.
There are four opportunities to join the fun!
Session 1: Rock Painting, SLIME & Painting on Canvas
In week one, kids will use brushes and colorful paints to turn plain rocks into creative works of art. They can design animals, patterns, or anything their imagination inspires. Each painted rock becomes a fun, one-of-a-kind treasure.
In week two, students will mix glue, activator, glitter, and fun trinkets to create their own colorful, squishy slime. They’ll experiment with textures and sparkles to make each slime unique and playful. It’s a hands-on, sensory-filled activity that’s all about creativity and fun!
In week three, children will use vibrant paints to capture the colors and beauty of autumn. They’ll create scenes filled with pumpkins, falling leaves, and golden trees while learning basic painting techniques. Each child will take home their own seasonal masterpiece.
Session 2: Pumpkin Painting, Weaving & 3D Art Making
In week one, kids will decorate pumpkins using bright paints, googly eyes, and soft felt pieces to create fun and silly faces. They’ll mix colors and textures to bring their pumpkins to life with personality. Each child will leave with a playful, one-of-a-kind pumpkin masterpiece.
In week two, students will learn the basics of weaving by wrapping colorful yarn around simple popsicle stick frames. They’ll experiment with patterns, textures, and color combinations to create their own mini woven designs. This fun, hands-on activity encourages creativity, fine motor skills, and a love for fiber arts.
In week three, kids will create colorful 3D autumn-themed sculptures using cardboard, glue, and paint, along with nature’s treasures like leaves, sticks, and rocks. They’ll explore texture, shape, and creativity while turning ordinary materials into unique seasonal masterpieces. This hands-on activity blends art and nature for a fun, sensory-rich experience.
Session 3: Fall Lanterns, Pinecone People & Painting on Canvas
In week one, kids will decorate Mason jars with colorful paint and tissue paper to create glowing autumn-themed lanterns. Once dry, they’ll add safe LED lights inside to make their jars shine with warm, cozy light. Each child will take home a beautiful, handmade lantern perfect for fall evenings.
In week two, kids will transform pinecones into whimsical characters using felt, yarn, and googly eyes. They’ll design hats, scarves, and hair, then bring their creations to life with fun details. Each child will take home a quirky, nature-inspired friend.
In week three, students will use vibrant canvas paints to create cozy, snowy scenes full of frosty trees and sparkling snowflakes. They’ll learn basic painting techniques while bringing the magic of winter to life on their own canvases. Each child will take home a colorful, seasonal artwork to cherish.
Session 4: Wreath Making, Ginger Bread Houses & Card Making
In week one, kids will create their own festive wreaths using fresh, fragrant evergreens and colorful bows. They’ll learn simple arranging techniques while adding their own creative touches. Each child will take home a beautiful, handmade decoration to brighten the season.
In week two, kids will use icing, candy, and creative touches to design festive gingerbread houses meant for display, not eating. They’ll learn fun decorating techniques while building a colorful holiday centerpiece. Each child will leave with a unique, handmade creation to enjoy all season long.
In week three, kids will design festive cards using colorful cardstock, markers, glue, and a touch of glittery sparkle. They’ll create snowflakes, snowy scenes, and other winter-inspired designs to share with family and friends. Each card will be a unique, handmade keepsake full of seasonal cheer.
