Circuit Lab Classes: Robot Commanders with Circuit Makers - Summer Register View Cart

CL Robots
Let’s get creative with electricity!

Circuit Makers 101
This junior-level, hands-on electronics class introduces students to the exciting world of circuits through fun and imaginative projects.

Participants will design and build their own creations—such as light-up greeting cards, electric games, mazes, and even simple musical instruments—while learning the basics of circuitry. Each class includes a short lesson followed by a hands-on project using components like lights, buzzers, switches, motors, and sensors.

With guidance from Circuit Lab staff, students will create projects they can be proud of, while building confidence and foundational STEM skills. Most sessions include a take-home project to continue the learning and fun beyond the classroom.

Robot Commanders 101
Understanding how software interacts with robots is a key skill for the innovators of tomorrow. This hands-on class introduces students to the fundamentals of coding through fun, active, and engaging robotics challenges.

Participants will learn how to write, test, and debug programs that control a variety of robotic devices. Using code, students will transform Sphero SPRK+ robots into creations like Magic 8 Balls, automated Red Light/Green Light games, and even the arcade classic Pong. They’ll also use Unruly Splats for interactive activities such as voting systems, relay races, and guessing games.

Through playful experimentation and guided instruction, students will build confidence in coding, strengthen problem-solving skills, and gain a deeper understanding of how software brings robots to life.

About Circuit Labs
Circuit Lab is a small Boston-based company, started in 2015, that runs programs to teach children about circuitry (electrical engineering) and programming (computer science) through creative, hands-on projects. Our programs give kids the opportunity to engage with electronics as tools - not toys - and design their own devices by blending technical concepts with hands-on experimentation. It’s a creative and fun way to give kids fluency and confidence in an increasingly necessary skill.
